Soil Physical Properties and Production of Upland Ultisol Soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Acid upland soil in Indonesia has a great potential for agricultural development but the soil physical properties have been degraded. The use of manure and direct application of Gresik phosphate rock (PR) was an alternative to improve land productivity ...

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

SPATIAL VARIABILITY OF SOIL ERODIBILITY AT EL HAMMAM CATCHMENT, NORTHEAST OF ALGERIA [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironment & Ecosystem Science, 2019
The concept of erodibility has gained a great importance in the field of soil erosion modelling and applications of soil conservation. Soil erodibility factor has become one of the key factors which determine soil particles resistance to be detached by

Rice Paddies Reduce Subsequent Yields of Wheat Due to Physical and Chemical Soil Constraints

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Yields of wheat crops that succeed rice paddy crops are generally low. To date, it has been unclear whether such low yields were due to rice paddies altering soil physical or mineral characteristics, or both.

Temporal stability of soil moisture and radar backscatter observed by the advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The high spatio-temporal variability of soil moisture is the result of atmospheric forcing and redistribution processes related to terrain, soil, and vegetation characteristics.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Evaluating soil amendments for improvement of soil physical properties

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1974
Al of the amendments tested lowered the bulk density and greatly improved the water flow rate through the soil mix, thereby reducing management problems.

Plant responses to belowground variations along elevational gradients in temperate and tropical climates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Soil is a hyper-heterogeneous environment, and how plants respond to changes in belowground variations in soil properties and microclimate is poorly understood.

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...
