Analysis of Soil Quality for Hydrological Disaster Mitigation in Sub-Watershed of Krueng Jreue, Aceh Besar Regency-Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Land conversion of forest to non-forest has led to a reduction in soil fertility, exhibited by a lower soil quality index value (SQI) in the Sub-Watershed of Krueng Jreue. This study aimed to determine soil quality associated with various land uses using

Mimicking Block Copolymer Self‐Assembly with One‐Pot Synthesized Polyphosphoester Gradient Copolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Degradable Polyphosphoester (PPE) gradient copolymers (GCPs) are synthesized via one‐pot copolymerization. We show that GCPs self‐assemble into nanostructures like polymersomes, effectively mimicking the behavior of traditional BCPs. The gradient strength is key, with softer gradients favoring micelles.

S-Index as an indicator of physical quality in soils of the Paraná state

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental
From the 1990s, the demand for soil quality indicators has increased with the agricultural sustainability approaches. The S-index was proposed as an indicator of soil physical quality.

Soil Quality Indexing Strategies for Evaluating Sugarcane Expansion in Brazil

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Increasing demand for biofuel has intensified land-use change (LUC) for sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) expansion in Brazil. Assessments of soil quality (SQ) response to this LUC are essential for quantifying and monitoring sustainability of sugarcane production over time.

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

Comparison of soil physical quality index based on simple additive SQI and statistically modeled SQI methods for watershed management in Rembangan, Indonesia

open access: yesJournal of Degraded and Mining Lands Management
The physical quality of soil is determined by quantitative measurement tools, which are expressed in the form of soil quality indices. Methods for determining soil quality have been developed, but none have been standardized.

Comparison of qualitative and quantitative approaches to soil quality assessment for agricultural purposes in South-western Nigeria

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2016
There has been a major challenge on how to develop soil quality standards to assess changes which are practical and useful to farmers. This study assesses soil quality using qualitative and quantitative indicators and established the relationship between

Development and testing of a risk indexing framework to determine field-scale critical source areas of faecal bacteria on grassland. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper draws on lessons from a UK case study in the management of diffuse microbial pollution from grassland farm systems in the Taw catchment, south west England. We report on the development and preliminary testing of a field-scale faecal indicator
