Erosion resistance of cohesive soils
Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2008This paper presents experimental results on surface erodibility tests performed with undisturbed and remolded samples of cohesive soils. When subjected to shear stress caused by flowing water, erosion occurs in two distinctive modes: particle erosion and mass erosion.

Measurement of Soil Thermal Resistivity
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1978Of several available methods for the measurement of the thermal resistivity of soils, the thermal needle method and the Shannon and Wells method are considered most suitable, because of their relative simplicity and the short measurement time required. The thermal needle method is the simpler of the two, and it offers the added advantage that knowledge

Erosion Resistance of Cohesive Soils
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1981An experimental study is described that concerned the surface erosion of an illitic silty clay (Grundite) at selected salinities and water contents; the study was designed to test the applicability of rate process and double layer theories. Both velocity increment and temperature increment tests were run in a refrigerated water tunnel.

Soil Resistivity Evaluation and Grounding System Resistance
2018This chapter contains the factors affecting the soil resistivity and grounding resistance such as the soil moisture content, soil mineral content and soil temperature. It discusses the methods of measuring of soil resistivity and grounding resistance using Wenner method.

Measurement of Earth conductor resistance and soil resistivity
Summer Event on History of Electrical Engineering, 2003Earth resistance measurement relates in part to the oldest electrical technology namely lightning protection. In this paper, both the definition of earth resistance and the theoretical calculation of the resistance of a hemispherical conductor are shown. A practical demonstration of a test set is given. The limitation and assumptions of the methods are:
