Heat resistant fungi isolated from soil

International Journal of Food Microbiology, 1994
The Thermal death time values (TDT) were estimated for Dichotomomyces cejpii, Gilmaniella humicola, Talaromyces avellaneus and Talaromyces bacillisporus isolated from soil. TDT values were compared with the TDT values of the known heat-resistant species, Byssochlamys nivea, Neosartorya fischeri and Talaromyces flavus.

Determination of soil parameters to calculate soil resistivity

Russian Electrical Engineering, 2015
This paper is dedicated to the development of techniques allowing for design solutions to be refined on grounding devices. The resistivity is used in the design of grounders in dependence on the soil humidity, temperature, and density. To determine soil humidity at the depth of soil occurrence, two models are used: depending on the season at a depth of

Penetration resistance of lunar soils

Journal of Terramechanics, 1971
Abstract Penetration resistance, in terms of the slope G of the stress penetration curve, has been correlated with density for a basaltic lunar soil simulant. The values were measured with the standard WES 30° cone penetrometer. This lunar soil simulant has been found to possess the same penetration resistance characteristics as the Apollo ...

Erosion resistance of cohesive soils

Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2008
This paper presents experimental results on surface erodibility tests performed with undisturbed and remolded samples of cohesive soils. When subjected to shear stress caused by flowing water, erosion occurs in two distinctive modes: particle erosion and mass erosion.

Measurement of Soil Thermal Resistivity

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1978
Of several available methods for the measurement of the thermal resistivity of soils, the thermal needle method and the Shannon and Wells method are considered most suitable, because of their relative simplicity and the short measurement time required. The thermal needle method is the simpler of the two, and it offers the added advantage that knowledge

Erosion Resistance of Cohesive Soils

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1981
An experimental study is described that concerned the surface erosion of an illitic silty clay (Grundite) at selected salinities and water contents; the study was designed to test the applicability of rate process and double layer theories. Both velocity increment and temperature increment tests were run in a refrigerated water tunnel.

Soil Resistivity Evaluation and Grounding System Resistance

2018
This chapter contains the factors affecting the soil resistivity and grounding resistance such as the soil moisture content, soil mineral content and soil temperature. It discusses the methods of measuring of soil resistivity and grounding resistance using Wenner method.

Measurement of Earth conductor resistance and soil resistivity

Summer Event on History of Electrical Engineering, 2003
Earth resistance measurement relates in part to the oldest electrical technology namely lightning protection. In this paper, both the definition of earth resistance and the theoretical calculation of the resistance of a hemispherical conductor are shown. A practical demonstration of a test set is given. The limitation and assumptions of the methods are:
