Behavior of electrical resistivity against different soil properties

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2023
Any construction must be designed and built after the subsurface soil has been determined. The subsurface qualities of the soil are rendered by expensive, time-consuming, and risky operations, which on the other hand, raise the project's capital ...

Axisymetrical infiltration in soil imaged by noninvasive electrical resistivimetry

open access: yes, 2009
To progress in the monitoring and understanding of soil water processes, geophysical methods can be helpful because they are noninvasive and as such do not disturb either the structure or the water dynamics of the soil.

Spatially Decoupling Heating and Evaporation for Convection‐Enhanced 3D Solar Evaporation With Continuous Salt Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An architecture‐enabled bottom‐heated 3D solar convective evaporator spatially decouples photothermal heating from evaporation, triggering natural convection that intensifies sidewall vapour removal and heat transfer. The system achieves significantly enhanced evaporation rates over 2D and conventional 3D designs while confining salt precipitation to ...

Bioinspired Mechanically Robust Organic–Inorganic Hybridized Bio‐Adhesives With up to 50% Inorganic Components by Bi‐Continuous Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Resolution of electrical imaging of fluid movement in landfills

open access: yes, 2011
This paper investigates the efficacy of time-lapse electrical imaging using surface electrodes to monitor the movement of leachate within a landfill. A laboratory-based study allowed direct comparison between observed physical dewatering and time-lapse ...

Surprising Water Slipping Performance on Highly Hydrophilic PEG‐Derived Monolayer‐Covered Surfaces: Preparation, Mechanism, and Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly hydrophilic surfaces (water contact angle, ≈17.7°) exhibiting surprising water slipping performance (sliding angle, ≈7.3°) are successfully prepared via simple chemisorption of polyethylene glycol (PEG) organosilane and subsequent alkali‐treatment.

Contribution of soil electric resistivity measurements to the studies on soil/grapevine water relations

open access: yesOENO One, 2006
The classical techniques that allow to quantify the soil water status such as the gravimetric method or the use of neutrons probes do not give access to the volume of soil explored by the plant root system.

Soil Texture Effects on Surface Resistance to Bare‐Soil Evaporation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
AbstractModeling of surface energy balance and the separation of evapotranspiration to its component fluxes require quantification of evaporation from land surfaces. The nonlinear relationship between surface heat fluxes and the hydration state of soil surfaces present a challenge to remote estimation of surface evaporation rates.

Soil ozone deposition: Dependence of soil resistance to soil texture [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment, 2019
Soil deposition is an essential pathway for tropospheric ozone (O3) removal, but its controlling factors remain unclear. Here, we explored the variability of soil O3 resistance in response to soil texture. To this aim, data of O3 deposition over bare soil obtained from micrometeorological measurements under contrasted meteorological conditions for five
