High-severity wildfire leads to multi-decadal impacts on soil biogeochemistry in mixed-conifer forests. [PDF]
During the past century, systematic wildfire suppression has decreased fire frequency and increased fire severity in the western United States of America.

Soybean production is severely threatened by salt stress. This study reveals that the GmSIN1‐GmRNF1a‐GmCSN5a module enhances salt tolerance by stabilizing the GmSIN1 protein. GmRNF1a acts as an E3 ligase to ubiquitinate GmSIN1 for degradation, a process inhibited by GmCSN5a.

Winter soil CO2 flux from different mid-latitude sites from Middle Taihang Mountain in north China.
Winter soil respiration is a very important component of the annual soil carbon flux in some ecosystems. We hypothesized that, with all other factors being equal, shorter winter SR result in reduced contribution to annual soil C flux.

Interactive effects of soil temperature and moisture on Concord grape root respiration [PDF]
Root respiration has important implications for understanding plant growth as well as terrestrial carbon flux with a changing climate. Although soil temperature and soil moisture often interact, rarely have these interactions on root respiration been ...

Soil respiration and carbon dynamics under different densities of Shorea peltata Sym. in Tenggaroh Forest Reserve, Malaysia [PDF]
A field experiment was conducted in Tenggaroh Forest to compare soil respiration and carbon dynamic under different densities of Shorea peltata. The objectives of this study were: to investigate soil respiration under different site characteristics of ...

Alcohol consumption was independently associated with Surgical Site Infection in the gastroenterological Minimally Invasive Surgery. Whether preoperative abstinence from alcohol prevents the occurrence of SSI warrants further investigation. ABSTRACT Background Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the postoperative complications. Risk factors for SSI

Abstract Filamentous microorganisms exhibit complex morphologies that influence product formation and are affected by various bioprocess parameters. Consistent morphology is therefore essential for comparable results during scale‐up. This study investigates the scale‐up of Streptomyces species (Streptomyces spp.) cultivations from shake flasks to ...

In nearly all large-scale terrestrial ecosystem models, soil respiration is represented as a function of soil temperature. However, the relationship between soil respiration and soil temperature is highly variable across sites and there is often a ...

Representative estimates of soil and ecosystem respiration in an old beech forest [PDF]
Respiration has been proposed to be the main determinant of the carbon balance in European forests and is thus essential for our understanding of the carbon cycle.
