Impact of water deficit (salt and drought) stress on physiological, biochemical and yield attributes on wheat (Triticum aestivum) varieties

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
This investigation was carried out to assess the combined effect of salt stress and drought on physiological and biochemical traits in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties so as to deduce the probable mechanism of stress tolerance in these varieties ...

A Decade of Climate-Smart Agriculture in Major Agri-Food Systems: Earthworm Abundance and Soil Physico-Biochemical Properties

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Earthworms (EWs) could be a viable indicator of soil biology and agri-food system management. The influence of climate-smart agriculture (CSA)-based sustainable intensification practices (zero tillage, crop rotations, crop residue retention, and ...

Gut Microbiota Regulates Systemic Inflammatory Response and Compensatory Anti‐Inflammatory Response Syndromes by Targeting PF4+ Macrophages in Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute pancreatitis (AP) begins with pancreatic local inflammation, leading to the onset of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), followed by compensatory anti‐inflammatory response syndrome (CARS), which causes immune paralysis and higher mortality rate.

Phosphorus-solubilizing fungi improve growth and P nutrition in sorghum at variable salinity levels

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiome
Background Salt–tolerant phosphorus solubilizing fungi (PSF) play a pivotal role in plant growth promotion and P–nutrition in saline agro–ecoregions. Isolation and characterization of salt–tolerant fungi with P-solubilizing potential and plant growth ...

Standardization of the fourier transform near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy for estimation of some oil quality parameters in mustard (Brassica spp.)

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2013
The possibility of the application of the fourier transform near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) to the analysis of the selected quality parameters in the mustard oil was followed to determine oil, protein, erucic acid and crude fibre content at

In Vivo Microplastic Detection With Photoacoustic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microplastics are posing an escalating threat to both ecological systems and human health. Yet, current methods for investigating their bioaccumulation are highly invasive, requiring destructive analysis of ex vivo tissues via mass spectrometry, dye labelling, or Raman microspectroscopy.

Zinc Exposure Causes Disulfidptosis to Induce Miscarriage by Up‐Regulating GATA1/METTL1/SLC7A11 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zn exposure up‐regulates GATA1, promoting GATA1‐mediated METTL1 and SLC7A11 transcription. It also enhances METTL1‐mediated m7G modification on SLC7A11 mRNA, increasing SLC7A11 mRNA stability. Ultimately, Zn exposure up‐regulates SLC7A11 at both transcriptional and post‐transcriptional levels, causing disulfidptosis. Knockdown of murine Slc7a11, Gata1,

Temporal variations in morpho-physiology of sandalwood and gene expression analysis revealed Shisham as host preference under water deficit and salinity stress

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Sandalwood (Santalum album L.), a valuable aromatic tree species, faces significant growth and physiological challenges under abiotic stresses like water deficit and salinity, especially when both stressors are present. Host plant associations

A Rare Allele of ST5 From Wild Rice Enhances Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel salt‐tolerance gene ST5W, characterized by a unique 36‐bp promoter insertion, is found exclusively in a small subset of Oryza rufipogon and is absent in cultivated rice. Field trials confirm ST5W significantly enhances rice yield across diverse genetic backgrounds under saline conditions.

A multi-dimensional analysis of integrated farming system in salt-affected ecologies

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences
The horizontal expansion of the arable areas seems infeasible with dwindling natural resources and declining the average size of landholdings. For harnessing the economic, environmental and social benefits of vertical expansion, the Integrated Farming ...
