A Geographic Information System (GIS)–CRiteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) Framework for Selecting Solar Photovoltaics Sites: A Case Study

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel framework integrating environmental constraints, topography, infrastructure accessibility, and solar irradiation was developed to identify optimal utility‐scale solar photovoltaics (PV) sites in Lithuania. Western and central Lithuania showed the highest suitability for future solar PV expansion.

Fault‐Specific Diagnostic Regions Based on Normalized DC Voltage and Current Indices for Photovoltaic Systems Using Routine Inverter and Environmental Data

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study proposes a fault diagnostic approach for photovoltaic systems using normalized DC voltage and current indices derived from routinely collected inverter and environmental data. The approach enables string‐ and array‐level fault diagnosis without additional measurement equipment and supports operation and maintenance decision‐making.

The Critical Role of Economies of Scale: A Techno‐Economic Assessment of Small‐ Versus Large‐Scale Biogas Upgrading in Rural Tanzania

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Small‐scale biogas upgrading can improve methane quality but remains financially unattractive to individual rural households. Community‐scale implementation substantially lowers energy costs, demonstrating that economies of scale are critical to making purified biogas a viable clean‐cooking option in Tanzania.
