Review of phytochemical and antioxidant properties of Ethiopian medicinal plants

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Ethiopia possesses a rich ethnobotanical heritage and diverse medicinal flora that play an important role in traditional healthcare. Many Ethiopian medicinal plants contain bioactive phytochemicals with potential antioxidant properties. This capital of indigenous knowledge has contributed to the documentation of different medicinal plants that

The effect of light supplementation on the changes in outer and inner fruit quality of different Selenicereus spp. cultivars

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Selenicereus spp., belonging to the Cactaceae family, produces pitaya, a fruit recognized for its exotic appearance and rich phytochemical composition. In regions with shorter photoperiods, flowering and fruit development are limited, making light supplementation a promising strategy.

Hop production in a low‐trellis espalier system in the subtropical environment

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hop cultivation (Humulus lupulus L.) is expanding into new regions, particularly under subtropical conditions. Traditionally, hop plants are trained using high‐trellis systems; however, a low‐trellis espalier structure may reduce establishment costs, facilitate phytosanitary management, and improve harvest uniformity.

Styrene and its natural analogues: accumulation and sustainable production methods

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Styrene, also known as vinyl benzene, is a colourless, highly volatile petrochemical that serves as a key monomer in the production of polystyrene and styrene‐butadiene rubber. Its industrial synthesis via the alkylation of benzene with ethylene relies on fossil fuels, requiring high temperatures and toxic catalysts that contribute to ...
