Impact of soil spatial variability on young almond trees: A case study on heavy clay soils

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
The viability of modern horticulture heavily relies on adopting sustainable practices. Understanding soil spatial variability on heavy clay soils and its impact on young trees is crucial to design suitable soil and water management strategies that ...

Catchment scale spatial variability of soil salt content in agricultural oasis, Northwest China

open access: yes, 2008
Soil salinization is a serious environmental problem in the world, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Therefore, estimating spatial variability of soil salinity plays an important role in environmental sciences.

A Disaggregation Strategy for Nanopesticide Fabrication: Investigating the Impact of Nanosizing on Pesticide Biointeractions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of nanosizing on pesticide biointeractions, a 7‐nm (average) emamectin benzoate nanopesticide without nanocarriers or surfactants is fabricated via HOAc‐mediated disaggregation. Nanosizing enhances bioactivity against Megalurothrips usitatus and Meloidogyne enterolobii and improves plant penetration.

Multi‐Stimuli‐Responsive Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Frameworks Nanocarriers Enable Targeted Fungicide Release and Plant Immune Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fluorinated hydrogen‐bonded organic framework nanocarrier (PFC‐1‐F) loaded with PYR and coated with HACC enables multi‐stimuli‐responsive (enzyme/ROS/pH) release at infection sites. Exhibiting targeted antifungal activity against Sclerotium rolfsii, modulating plant antioxidant defense, and demonstrating favorable biosafety across plant, soil, and ...

Space-time modeling of soil moisture: Stochastic rainfall forcing with heterogeneous vegetation

open access: yes, 2006
The present paper complements that of Isham et al. (2005), who introduced a space-time soil moisture model driven by stochastic space-time rainfall forcing with homogeneous vegetation and in the absence of topographical landscape effects.

Molecular Engineering Mediated Interfacial Assembly as an Artificial Extracellular Matrix Remolds Bacteria With Enhanced Abiotic Resilience

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic artificial extracellular matrix is assembled directly on Pseudomonas fluorescens by co‐assembling amyloid‐like lysozyme and alginate at the cell surface. This conformal nanocoating acts as both a hydration buffer and a physiological priming layer, markedly enhancing desiccation tolerance, seed adhesion, storage stability, and biocontrol ...

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Soil Moisture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geosciences, 2010
The characterization of temporal and spatial variability of soil moisture is highly relevant for understanding the many hydrological processes, to model the processes better and to apply them to conservation planning. Considerable variability in space and time coupled with inadequate and uneven distribution of irrigation water results in uneven yield ...

Spatial structure of soil texture and its influence on spatial variability of nitrate leaching

open access: yes, 2015
Field scale variability of soil texture can influence crop yield and movement of soil water in the field. The objective of this study was to investigate the spatial structure of soil texture in relation to the variability of nitrate-N leaching using ...

Probabilistic assessment of passive earth pressures considering spatial variability of soil parameters and design factors [PDF]

open access: yes
The stability design of soil structures, such as retaining walls, has traditionally relied on deterministic analyses that use averaged soil parameters. However, modern computational advances, particularly Monte Carlo simulations (MCs), have highlighted ...
