Toposseqüências de Latossolos originados de rochas basálticas no Paraná: II - relação entre mineralogia da fração argila e propriedades físicas dos solos Oxisol toposequences developed from basaltic rocks in Paraná State, Brazil: II - relationship between clay fraction mineralogy and physical soil properties

Self‐Oscillating Helix Showing Amplified Winding and Unwinding Motions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The hydrogel helix exhibits autonomous oscillation synchronized with the Ru(bpy)32+/3+ redox cycle in the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction. Periodic winding–unwinding accompanies magnified motion along one direction within the gel phase. ABSTRACT Helical architectures in nature amplify motion via winding–unwinding.

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Improving orchard soil structure and water penetration

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1989
Soil surface crusts can severely limit water infiltration and tree crop production. Vegetative cover and gypsum treatments in an orchard increased soil structural stability and may reduce crust formation in the long term.

Slope position and management practices as factors influencing selected properties of topsoil

open access: yesSoil Science Annual, 2019
An interaction between the slope position and type of soil management practices could be one of the most important factor affecting several soil properties including soil structure.

Optical Diversity and Nanostructural Organization in the Colored Scales of Sternotomis

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Vivid colors in Sternotomis beetles originate from nanoscale photonic architectures embedded within individual scales. Here, we provide a comparative optical and structural analysis of 57 scale types that reveal how ordered, quasi‐ordered, and disordered 3D networks tune color, saturation, and angular response.
