Soil Type Database of China: A nationwide soil dataset based on the Second National Soil Survey
China Scientific Data, 2016Derived from the Second National Soil Survey, Soil Type Database of China is the most comprehensive soil data resource on the national scale. It embodies the distribution, area, characters, land use and productive performance of most soil types ...

Soil Survey for Urban Development
Geoderma, 1973Abstract As an aid to urban planning, a detailed soil survey is underway in the new Mill Woods district, City of Edmonton. Five soil associations — Ellerslie, Mill Woods, Argyll, Hercules, and Beaumont — are being mapped in the area. These soils represent the Chernozemic, Solonetzic, and Gleysolic Orders in the Canadian System of Soil Classification.

The Soil Survey of Bhairavanitippa Project Area- An Irrigation Soil Survey
Madras Agricultural Journal, 1954The soil survey of the Bhairavanitippa Project area was undertaken late in 1950 in order to find out the suitability of the soils and water for irrigation. The command area is situated in the Ceded districts of Bellary and Anantapur, far in the interior of the Deccan Peninsula without any high mountains nearby.

Environmental Science & Technology, 1988
Delineation and remediation of subsurface contamination have become a major focus of environmental science during the past five years. Conventional technologies available for subsurface investigations always will be required to confirm and monitor subsurface contamination; however, quicker and less expensive techniques are useful for preliminary site ...

A China dataset of soil properties for land surface modelling (version 2, CSDLv2)
Earth System Science Data. Accurate and high-resolution spatial soil information is crucial for efficient and sustainable land use, management, and conservation. Since the establishment of digital soil mapping (DSM) and the GlobalSoilMap working group, significant advances have ...

The value of soil survey for archaeology
Geoderma, 1973The information gained about the origin and stratigraphy of sediments from a soil survey is extremely useful for archaeologists who study human occupation through the course of time. Soil maps often form a valuable basis for recording or mapping archaeological finds. The information is also helpful in the search for clues to past habitation in deposits

Soil genesis, soil classification and soil survey
Geoderma, 1970Abstract Mutual relationships exist between soil genesis, soil classification and soil survey. The first two subjects are dealt with separately. Some of the general lines in soil genetic investigation are traced. Next trends in soil classification are dealt with.

The aim of a soil survey is to predict soil conditions at unvisited sites. In traditional soil survey, the use of statistics is principally for post hoc evaluation of the quality of the choropleth map in terms of purity and within- and between-map unit variance of soil properties. Probability sampling designs have been proposed for this.

Concepts of Soil Formation and Soil Survey
2016Soils are a product of the environment in which they form. The integrated effects of climate, organisms, initial parent material, and topography produce processes that, over time , differentiate soils that are characteristic of those combined environmental influences.

Water and gas sampling of natural discharges are the most common types of survey over known geothermal areas. However, where discharge features are few and where the extent of the field is not known, soil and soil-gas surveys can prove helpful. These surveys can identify permeable regions in a field and possible upflow or boiling zones.
