Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Assessment of fertilizer prescription equations, crop and soil performance with different nutrient management practices for green gram (Vigna radiata) in Southern India’s Alfisols

open access: yesScientific Reports
The effect of fertilizers application based on “fertilizing the soil versus fertilizing the crop” which ensure real balance between the applied and available soil nutrient is urgently needed.

Calibration of phosphorus fertilizer for barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) on cambisols of Endamekhoni, Northern Ethiopia

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2019
Calibration of soil test P is a stage in determining P fertilizer rates to meet plant P requirement and soil nutrient availability. The objective of this study was to determine the critical phosphorous (Pc) and phosphorous requirement factor (Pf) for ...

Comparing soil boundaries delineated by digital analysis of multispectral scanner data from high and low spatial resolution systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The author has identified the following significant results. Computer-aided analysis techniques used with aircraft MSS data showed that the spatial resolution was sufficient to recognize each soil mapping unit of the test site. Some difficulties occurred

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Hot-Moments of Soil CO2 Efflux in a Water-Limited Grassland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The metabolic activity of water-limited ecosystems is strongly linked to the timing and magnitude of precipitation pulses that can trigger disproportionately high (i.e., hot-moments) ecosystem CO2 fluxes.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
