Real-time scanning curve of soil-water characteristic curve for residual soil slope [PDF]

open access: yes
The scanning curve of the soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) represents the intermediate paths followed by soil as it transitions between the initial drying and main wetting cycles.

Lunar‐Based Photothermal CO2 Reduction Strategy: Self‐Evolving Transient Active Interface and Band Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐evolving Pd/Ov‐FeTiO3 photothermal catalyst, inspired by lunar soil, enables efficient extraterrestrial CO2 conversion. The formation of transient active interfaces and oxygen vacancies extends light absorption to the infrared range and optimizes electron transfer.

Soil- Water Characteristic Curve Model-Silty Sand Soil

open access: yes, 2014
The implementation of unsaturated soil mechanics into engineering practice is dependent, to a large extent, upon the ability to estimate unsaturated soil property functions. The soil-water characteristic curve is the basis for estimating the permeability

Quantitative evaluation of different soil–water characteristic curve models on bare soil evaporation simulation

open access: yesGeoderma
The bare soil evaporation process is the link between the atmosphere and soil surface in the hydrologic cycle and, therefore, is a key issue in many fields of hydrological sciences. The selection of different soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) models

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes

Bionic Solar‐Powered Heavy Metal Trap for Eco‐Friendly Sludge Drying and Simultaneous Electricity Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a solar‐powered heavy metal trap (SPHT) for sludge disposal. The indoor experiments demonstrated that the sludge water content decreased from 90 % to 31 %, coupled with a decrease in heavy metal content to 6 % at most. Furthermore, the designed SPHT generated an initial potential of 0.10 V, and monitoring this hydrovoltaic potential ...

Advanced Scanning Technology for Volume Change Measurement of Residual Soil

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Weathering processes of rocks lead to the formation of residual soil layers, which are typically characterized by a deep groundwater table and a thick unsaturated zone.

Eco‐Geography Reverses Dominant AMR Reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae: Integron‐Rich Mobilomes and Cross‐Niche Connectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Determination of the Soil-Water Characteristic Curve of the Soil by Physical Modelling Tests

open access: yes
An increasing number of studies published in the last decade show that physical model experiments are becoming an increasingly popular and more available tool in the study of various problems, such as rainfall infiltration, surface runoff, hydromechanical response of soils and slopes, slope stability, effectiveness of remediation measures, hydraulic ...

Transposase‐Assisted Donor Tethering Boosts Large‐Fragment HDR in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transposase‐assisted donor tethering strategy is developed to enhance homology‐directed repair in plants. By recruiting donor DNA to double‐strand breaks and synergizing with repair pathway reprogramming and transcription‐coupled donor design, this system markedly improves large‐fragment targeted insertion efficiency, providing a robust platform for ...
