Nature of Soil–Water Characteristic Curve for Plastic Soils

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2005
Determinations of unsaturated soil parameters using experimental procedures are time consuming and difficult. In recent years, the soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) has become an important tool in the interpretation of the engineering behavior of unsaturated soils.

Soil-Water Characteristic Curves for Compacted Clays

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 1997
Soil-water characteristic curves (SWCCs) are presented for four compacted clay barrier soils that were prepared at different compaction water contents (dry, wet, and optimum water content) and compactive efforts (standard and modified Proctor). The SWCCs were measured in the laboratory using pressure plate extractors.

Study on the Test of Soil Water Characteristic Curve

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The test of soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) and its mathematic model are present. The SWCC can describe the relationship between unsaturated soil matric suction and water content. Matric suction is an important parameter to address when studying the engineering properties of unsaturated soil.

Predicting Bimodal Soil–Water Characteristic Curves

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2005
Failure of colluvial soil deposits induced by rainfall is a common geohazard in the natural terrain. Many colluvial soils are widely and gap graded with a minimal sand fraction. In order to study the pore water pressures in such gap-graded, unsaturated soil deposits through a seepage analysis and to evaluate the stability of these soil deposits, the ...

Probabilistic Analysis of Soil-Water Characteristic Curves

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2010
Direct measurement of the soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) is costly and time consuming. A first-order estimate from statistical generalization of experimental data belonging to soils with similar textural and structural properties is useful.

Influences affecting the soil-water characteristic curve

Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A, 2005
The soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) is the primary partially saturated soil information as its behavior and properties can be derived from it. Although there have been many studies of unsaturated soils and the SWCC, there is still no combined constitutive model that can simulate soil characteristics accurately. In cases when hydraulic hysteresis
