The critical soil water content and its relation to soil water dynamics [PDF]
Using an edaphic model that describes the extraction of soil water by plant roots, the occurrence of depletion zones dose to plant roots is demonstrated. These depletion zones affect the root water potential that is needed to maintain a certain transpiration rate.

Cornus mas L. seeds are transformed into a high‐performance biosorbent through chemical modification, effectively removing methylene blue from aqueous solutions. Comprehensive characterization and optimization reveal a maximum biosorption capacity of 71.71 mg g−1, establishing this sustainable, cost‐effective material as a promising solution for ...

Low-lying agricultural peatland sustainability under managed water regimes [PDF]
The combined effects of ditchwater management regime and sub-irrigation spacing on water table fluctuation have been investigated for two low lying agricultural peatlands in England, West Sedgemoor in the Somerset Moors and Methwold Fen in the Norfolk ...

Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.

Fusion of multi soil data for the delineation of management zones for variable rate irrigation [PDF]
Up until now, there have been no multi-sensor approaches used to estimate available water content (AWC) in order to determine variable rate irrigation. This has been a major problem for growers adopting precision farming technologies.

Soil Water Retention: Uni-Modal Models of Pore-Size Distribution Neglect Impacts of Soil Management [PDF]
Most models describing soil water retention imply a uni-modal pore-size distribution (PSD). The uni-modal model presented by van Genuchten (termed vanG) is widely used although double-exponential models (termed Dex) implying a bi-modal PSD may better ...
