Characterization of β-tricalcium phosphate powders synthesized by sol–gel and mechanosynthesis

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2018
β-Tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is one of the most investigated calcium phosphates to be used in bone tissue regeneration. Nowadays, β-TCP has been synthetized by different methods that allow obtaining different morphologies with chemical compositions ...

Toward a Unified Mechanistic Understanding of Polymer Electrolytes for Advanced Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes (PEs) are often indiscriminately grouped as “solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs)”, despite fundamental differences in their ion‐transport mechanisms. This Perspective establishes a mechanism‐based framework that distinguishes gel, quasi‐solid, and all‐solid polymer electrolytes based on their dominant ion‐transport pathways.

Corrosion Protection of Copper with Hybrid Sol-Gel Containing 1H-1, 2, 4-triazole-3-thiol [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2016
To improve the corrosion protection of copper metal, 0.01M concentration of 1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (TAT) was incorporated into the hybrid sol-gel monolayers containing 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS).

Novel sol–gel preparation of (PO)–(CaO)–(NaO)–(TiO) bioresorbable glasses (X = 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15)

open access: yes, 2014
Quaternary phosphate-based glasses in the PO–CaO–NaO–TiO system with a fixed PO and CaO content of 40 and 25 mol% respectively have been successfully synthesised via sol–gel method and bulk, transparent samples were obtained.

All‐Polyimide‐Mediated Liquid Metal Assembly on Aerogels for Breathable and Robust Electronic Skins

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐polyimide‐mediated assembly strategy resolves the fundamental conflict between physiological breathability and electromechanical robustness in wearable electronics. By integrating a polyamic acid‐encapsulated liquid metal ink onto an ultralight polyimide aerogel, imidization‐induced contraction enables low‐temperature conductive activation and ...

Study of the Efficiency of Doped Sol-gels Synthesized by Conventional Heating Versus Gamma Radiation Polymerization Techniques as adsorbents for Zn2+ and Pb2+ from Wastewater

open access: yesJournal of Scientific Research in Science
New doped sol-gel adsorbents based on blank sol-gel glass (tetraethoxysilane (TEOS)), which are TEOS/polyaniline (PANI) and its 4-methyl and 4-methoxyaniline derivatives (PANIs) and TEOS/PANIs/Acrylamide (Am) were synthesized using conventional thermal ...

Synthesis of superhydrophobic fluoro-containing silica sol coatings for cotton textile by one-step sol-gel process

open access: yes, 2018
Superhydrophobic coatings were successfully fabricated on cotton textiles through a simple one-step sol-gel process. A fluorinated copolymer (PHFA-MPS), as a precursor in the sol-gel reaction, was prepared by copolymerization of hexafluorobutyl ...

Minimally Invasive Delivery of Optical Nanosensors Using Injectable Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Injectable peptide hydrogels offer a minimally invasive delivery platform for single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)‐based near‐infrared fluorescent sensors, enabling real‐time measurement of drug concentrations. Encapsulated SWCNTs show a dose‐dependent fluorescence response across physiologically relevant concentrations and retain their fluorescence ...

Performance of immobilized bacterial alpha-amylases in methyltriethoxsilane / tetraetoxysilane sol-gel matrices

open access: yes, 2007
The large number of studies related to the field of biomolecules encapsulation in sol-gel hosts clearly indicates that this approach can be considered as a powerful alternative to traditional encapsulation procedures involving biopolymer hosts.
