Intra-specific fusions in Solanum tuberosum
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1985Plants were regenerated from callus arising from protoplast fusion of two S. tuberosum diploids. Tetraploid progeny from the fusion of the two diploid partners had increased vigor. Isozyme analysis confirmed the presence of proteins from both partners in the fusion progeny.

2001Haploids (2n = 2x = 24) extracted from three Solanum tuberosum tetraploids (2n = 4x = 48) were investigated, in order to select fertile haploids producing 2n gametes. The haploids studied in this work were characterized by male sterility or low pollen stainability.
