Transient Laser‐Shocked Synthesis of Amorphous Layer‐Supported Metal Nanocrystals for Efficient Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A general, versatile laser‐shock synthesis process is reported to produce various bimetallic CuNi, CuFe, CuCo, and medium‐entropy CuFeCoNi heterostructures, in which crystalline metal nanoparticles are anchored to amorphous hydroxide supports. During nitrate reduction reaction, the heterostructures undergo dynamic amorphous/crystalline reconstruction ...

On the cost-effectiveness of solar air heaters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1995
In this communication, a detailed theoretical performance and economic analysis of conventional solar air heaters with bare plate, single cover and double cover have been reported. Evaluation of the annual cost (AC) and the annual energy gain (AEG) of the collectors has been performed and the ratio AC/AEG is displayed for different combined values of m,

Performance Analysis of Solar Air Heater using CFD Simulation

open access: yes, 2018
Solar energy has emerged as one of the alternate to conventional sources of energy. Solar air heaters are one of the important devices to utilize solar energy. But, poor heat transfer coefficient is one of the major problem in solar air heater.

A Porous Interfacial Photothermal Layer of Fused Core–Shell Carbon‐Polymer Nanospheres for Directional Salt Crystallization and Zero‐Liquid‐Discharge

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical hydrogel evaporator with a thin, porous photothermal layer of fused core–shell carbon‐polymer nanospheres enables ultrafast interfacial solar evaporation with minimized heat loss and sufficient water supply. Directional advection‐dominated brine transport, coupled with Marangoni‐driven interfacial flow, drives salt away from the active ...

Atomic Layer Deposition of Metallic Molybdenum Dioxide Thin Films Enabling High‐k Rutile Capacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The first direct atomic layer deposition (ALD) process of molybdenum dioxide (MoO2) thin films is reported using molybdenum(II) acetate dimer (Mo2(OAc)4) and oxygen (O2) as precursors at 235°C–275°C. The films are crystalline, exceptionally pure, and conductive.

Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Flows through a Solar Air Heater Having Square-Sectioned Transverse Rib Roughness on the Absorber Plate

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Solar air heater is a type of heat exchanger which transforms solar radiation into heat energy. The thermal performance of conventional solar air heater has been found to be poor because of the low convective heat transfer coefficient from the absorber ...

Stabilizing Electrochemical Interfaces With Multifunctional Cobalt Nitride Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Cobalt nitrides emerged recently as an interesting class of earth‐abundant oxygen evolution catalysts. Herein, plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition is used to synthesize multifunctional cobalt nitride layers that simultaneously protect and catalytically activate photoelectrode surfaces.

Interfacial Electronic Restructuring in MAPbBr3/rGO Hybrids Enabling Improved Charge Extraction for Efficient Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
MAPbBr3/rGO hybrids exhibit interfacial electronic restructuring that enhances charge extraction in photodetectors. The incorporation of rGO modifies the surface chemical environment, enhances electron‐dominated transport, and suppresses performance degradation, resulting in higher responsivity, detectivity, and photostability than in pristine MAPbBr3 ...
