AN INVESTIGATION ON A SOLAR CHIMNEY MODEL [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Al-Azhar University Engineering Sector, 2019
A solar chimney system (SCS) is a solar thermal power plant utilizing a combination of solar aircollector and central updraft tube to generate a solar induced convective flow which drives pressurestaged turbines to generate electricity. In the present work, an experimental set-up model at themechanical engineering department of Al-Azhar University was ...

Solar Chimney Turbine Performance [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Solar Energy Engineering, 2003
An experimental investigation of the performance of a solar chimney turbine is presented. The design features a single rotor and uses the chimney supports as inlet guide vanes (IGVs) to introduce pre-whirl. This reduces the turbine exit kinetic energy at the diffuser inlet and assists the flow turning in the IGV-to-rotor duct.
