Solar and Collector Angles

2017
The Sun position determination is required in several solar applications, within them is the Sun tracking. The Sun position is determined in this chapter with reference to the Earth's center and with reference to an observer on the Earth's surface. This procedure allows determining the possible relationships between different solar angles.

Testing of solar collectors

Solar Energy, 1978
Abstract In order that tests on different solar collectors conducted at different times shall be comparable, it is necessary that the test define the governing equation of the collector. This involves measurements at different solar intensities, different operating temperatures and different flow rates.

Solar Collector Modeling

2019
Solar thermal power plants are a key technology for electricity generation from renewable energy resources. Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems collect and concentrate sunlight (solar radiation) to produce thermal energy which can be stored and used to produce electricity in a thermodynamic cycle (Rankine cycle or Brayton cycle).

Solar collector performance

2002
In this investigation, the temperatures of the insulated collector plate and glass cover of a horizontal solar collector were measured and compared to theoretically predicted values for different ambient conditions. By employing an appropriate equation for the prediction of the heat transfer between the cover and the natural environment, good agreement

Optimized Solar Collector

ASME 2009 3rd International Conference on Energy Sustainability, Volume 2, 2009
Fundamental to the design of solar trough collectors is that a suitable structure must be provided for positioning and support of mirrors, as well as pipes for transporting heat transfer fluids. These elements and related hardware are basic to the level of investment necessary for fabrication of collectors.

Solar Thermal Collectors

1983
The solar collector is the main component of a solar system. It transforms radiant energy from the sun, in the spectral range 0. 3 – 3μm, into usable heat (Fig. 1). The density of fluxes involved is low, at a maximum of the order of 1 kW/m2 (1000 times less than in the case of nuclear reactors). Heat losses depend essentially on temperature levels.
