Solar magnetic fields and the intensity of the green coronal line

Line-Tying Effects on Stability and Heating of Solar Coronal Loops

The effect of line-tying of solar coronal loops on both stability and heating by means of resonant absorption of Alfven waves is investigated numerically. It is shown that line-tying alone is not stabilizing, whereas the joint effect of line-tying and neighbouring flux tubes may stabilize a coronal loop.
