A polarization-intensity anticorrelation diagram for the solar coronal green line
Astronomy Letters, 2001We analyze the complex pattern of anticorrelation between the degree of polarization p in the green λ530.3-nm line and its intensity I λ, which was revealed by coronal observations during the total solar eclipse of July 11, 1991. For coronal points located at approximately the same distance from the disk center, the anticorrelation diagram breaks up ...

Discrepancies between calculated and observed Fexvii and Nixix solar coronal lines
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1975We extend the 36-levels model atom Fe+16 of Loulergue and Nussbaumer (1973) to a 51-levels atom includingn=4 configuration. Our earlier conclusion that relative intensities among the Fexvii lines are not sufficiently sensitive to variations in electron densities and electron temperature to deduce these parameters from observed intensity ratios still ...

Solar magnetic fields and the intensity of the green coronal line
Astronomy Reports, 2004Synoptic maps of the intensity of the λ530.5 nm FeXIV green coronal line and maps of computed coronal magnetic fields for the period 1977–2001 are compared. For quantitative comparisons, the correlation coefficients r for the correlation between these two parameters at corresponding points of the synoptic maps are calculated.

On the correlation of coronal green-line intensity and solar wind velocity
Solar Physics, 1975Cross-correlation functions have been computed between green-line intensity (Kislovodsk) and Vela solar wind velocity January–June 1967. They are calculated separately for east and west limb observations in 5° latitude increments, and the solar wind velocites are correlated at their estimated emission times by correcting for the plasma Earth-Sun ...

Line-Tying Effects on Stability and Heating of Solar Coronal Loops
1991The effect of line-tying of solar coronal loops on both stability and heating by means of resonant absorption of Alfven waves is investigated numerically. It is shown that line-tying alone is not stabilizing, whereas the joint effect of line-tying and neighbouring flux tubes may stabilize a coronal loop.

Effect of Opacity on Solar Coronal Soft X-Ray Oxygen VIII Spectral Line
Spectroscopy Letters, 2014To study the effect of opacity on the solar x-ray spectral line, using the method of escape factor, we analyze the effect of opacity on the solar oxygen VIII spectral line, and we estimate the effective emission thickness of the oxygen VIII emitting region in the solar atmosphere.

The solar coronal green line as an index of cosmic ray modulation
Planetary and Space Science, 1973Abstract In recent years several papers have indicated that the solar coronal green line emission (λ=5303A) is the ‘best’ indicator of cosmic ray modulation. This paper questions this result for the following reasons: (a) the problems of green line measurement obscure the true meaning of the resulting observations; (b) there is a lack of any direct ...
