Solar cycle activity: A preliminary prediction for cycle #24 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2003
Solar activity forecasting is an important topic for numerous scientific and technological areas, such as space op- erations, electric power transmission lines and earth environment impact. Nevertheless, the well-known difficulty is how to accurately predict, on the basis of various recorded solar activity indices, the complete evolution of future ...

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...

Which Polar Precursor Better Predicts Solar Cycles: Axial Dipole Moment or Hemispheric Polar Flux of the Sun?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Accurate forecasting of future solar cycle amplitudes is crucial because solar activity modulates the near-Earth space environment, yet such predictions remain a long-standing challenge in solar physics.

Solar Cycles: Can they be Predicted?

open access: yesResearch Notes of the AAS
Abstract The solar magnetic field, thought to be generated by the motion of plasma within the Sun, alternates on the order of 11 yr cycles and is incompletely understood. Industries rely on accurate forecasts of solar activity, but can solar cycles be predicted? Of more than 100 predictions for cycle 25, most underestimated the amplitude

Data‐Driven Discovery of Quaternary Ammonium Interlayers for Efficient and Thermally Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An active learning framework, grounded in independently generated in‐house experimental data, enables reliable discovery of high‐performance interfacial materials for perovskite solar cells. Iterative model refinement autonomously converges toward structurally robust quaternary ammonium architectures, establishing a new design principle for interfacial

An Early Solar Dynamo Prediction: Cycle 23 ∼ Cycle 22

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1993
In this paper, we briefly review the “dynamo” and “geomagnetic precursor” methods of long‐term solar activity forecasting. These methods depend upon the most basic aspect of dynamo theory to predict future activity, future magnetic field arises directly from the magnification of pre‐existing magnetic field.

Short‐Wavelength Infrared Imaging with Organic Photodetectors Based on Non‐Fullerene Acceptors with Detection above 1200 nm

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed organic photodetectors (OPDs) based on two novel low band gap non‐fullerene acceptors BZIC‐2F and BZIC‐2Cl, when blended with common polymer donor P3HT, extend detection range beyond 1200 nm with superior performance, rivaling costly inorganic sensors and past literature.

Geomagnetic activity during the rising phase of solar cycle 24

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate, 2013
As previous studies have shown, geomagnetic activity during the solar minimum following solar cycle 23 was at low levels unprecedented during the space era, and even since the beginning of the Kp index in 1932.
