A Study of Long-Term Solar Activity at 37 GHz
In this paper we investigate the solar activity at the radio frequency (37 GHz) using an extensive data series (solar radio maps) from the Metsähovi Radio Observatory.

A solar cycle clock for extreme space weather
The variable solar cycle of activity is a long-standing problem in physics. It modulates the overall level of space weather activity at earth, which in turn can have significant societal impact.

Solar Coronal Rotation from 1973 to 2017: An Analytical Approach Based on Coronal Hole Areas
Solar coronal rotation exhibits significant complexity, and its relationship with the 11 yr solar cycle remains poorly understood. Using 597 McIntosh synoptic maps (CR1601–CR2197), we construct the temporal evolution of coronal rotation by performing ...

Investigating Variations in Solar Differential Rotation by Helioseismology
Helioseismic signatures of dynamo waves have recently been discovered in variations of the solar differential rotation, offering valuable insights into the type of dynamo mechanism operating in the solar convection zone. To characterize these variations,

Λ effect in rotating hydrodynamic convection
Context. Rotating anisotropic convection generates differential rotation in stellar convection zones. Aims. The main aim is to compute the non-diffusive contribution (Λ effect) to angular momentum transport – described by Reynolds stress – from rotating ...

Modelling solar and stellar differential rotation
We present a model of stellar differential rotation based on the mean-field theory of fluid dynamics. DR is driven by Reynolds stress and anisotropic heat transport caused by the Coriolis force. Our model reproduces the rotation pattern in the solar convection zone and allows predictions for other stars with outer convection zones.
