Solar through dryer

Solar Energy, 1979
The design of a solar trough is described which reflects solar radiation onto the bottom of a black metal tray which holds fruit to be dried. Drying results using this solar trough dryer were compared for several fruits with conventional dryers, indicating a 40 to 45% decrease in the required drying time to reach 50% moisture content. The Solar Macaroni Dryer

International Conference on Crop Harvesting and Processing, 2007 (electronic only), 2007
“Solar energy is free but not cheap”. That thought has driven research at Nong-Lam University to design, fabricate, and test a macaroni dryer using solar energy as the heat source; the aim being to be competitive with the drying costs of fossil fuels.

Solar Crop Dryers

2016
A solar crop dryer is used to reduce crop losses during in-season harvesting periods. A solar-dried crop is hygienic and preserves nutritional value. A solar crop dryer reduces drying time with protection from external disturbances such as rain and strong wind.

Comparison of solar dryer and solar-assisted heat pump dryer for cassava

Solar Energy, 2016
Abstract The performance of a solar dryer (SD) and a solar-assisted heat pump dryer (SAHPD) for drying of cassava chips have been investigated. The SD and SAHPD decreased the mass of cassava from 30.8 kg to 17.4 kg within 13 and 9 h at average temperatures of 40 °C and 45 °C, respectively. The moisture content of cassava decreased from 61% (wet basis)

Performance Improvement of Solar Dryer

International Journal of Scientific Research, 2012
Renewable energy sources are the best ways to meet the increasing demands of the world's energy and solar drying is one of the renewable energy sources. Solar drying is efficient method for drying food products and vegetables. Drying preserves foods by removing extra moisture from the food to prevent decay and spoilage.

Modern solar grain dryer

Solar & Wind Technology, 1986
Abstract A modern unit for drying grains after harvesting was investigated. The unit is simply a rotary dryer that uses solar energy as the heating source. The performance was tested and found statisfactory. Results of tests for drying corn and peanuts are given in the form of tables and curves.
