Enhancing UV Stability and Charge Extraction in Organic Solar Cells with Phenyl‐Linked Aromatic Self‐Assembled Monolayer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The phenyl‐linked self‐assembled monolayer exhibits robust intrinsic stability and hole extraction capability compared to the alkyl‐linked counterparts, thus facilitating the device stability with T80 over 1000 h and efficiency of 19.7% in advancing organic solar cells.

Condensate Nuclei and Magnetic Polarity Reversals in the Sun and Solar-type Stars [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Magnetic field generation in the Sun and solar-type stars is modeled here based on the formation of magnetically polarized condensates (B. M. Mirza, Mod. Phys. Lett. B 28 (2014) 1450148) under the high density and pressure conditions. The correct orders of magnitude for the time period and the energy loss in a solar cycle are deduced, as well as the ...

5,11‐Di(thiophen‐2‐yl)Tetracene: A Novel Tetracene Derivative for Efficient Singlet Fission with Enhanced Physical and Chemical Stability in Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Understanding and Minimizing Perimeter Losses of Silicon-Based Monolithic Tandem Solar Cells – A Simulation Study

open access: yesSiliconPV Conference Proceedings
The vast majority of monolithic perovskite-silicon-based tandem cells to date is manufactured in R&D environments using small scale perovskite top cells (~1-4 cm²), typically placed on a larger silicon bottom cell. The high perimeter-to-area ratio leads

Electricity Generation From Ambient Water Evaporation in the Absence of Sunlight via PVA‐Based Porous Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, a water‐evaporation driven energy harvester is devised that works even in the absence of sunlight. This is achieved by combining PVA hydrogel with thermoelectrics (TEG) to directly capture energy from water evaporation. Under mild conditions (RH 40%, T of 26 °C, and 2.8 m s−1 wind), 1.71 mW (1.02 W m−2) power can be generated, >3 fold ...

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Exploring Electronic States and Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in AlInP Window Layers: The Role of Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the surface characteristics of AlInP (001), crucial for advanced solar cells and photoelectrochemical devices. Using theoretical modeling and experiments, it identifies how phosphorus‐rich and indium‐rich surfaces create mid‐gap states that pin the Fermi level and influence ultrafast electron dynamics.
