Influence of passivating interlayers on the carrier selectivity of MoOx contacts for c-Si solar cells

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics
The application of molybdenum oxide (MoOx) as a hole-selective contact for silicon-based solar cells has been explored due to superior optical transmittance and potentially leaner manufacturing compared to fully amorphous silicon-based heterojunction ...

Reduction of Scarce Materials in Silicon Heterojunction Solar Cells and Implications on the Performance in the Field

open access: yesSiliconPV Conference Proceedings
In the first part of this work the potential to save silver for n-type silicon heterojunction solar cells was investigated. Cells were produced with varied frontside screen opening (30-50 µm).

Cutting Indium Usage by 60% in SHJ-Modules Maintaining High Efficiency

open access: yesSiliconPV Conference Proceedings
In this work the impact of reducing the Indium consumption for SHJ cells and modules is investigated. Optical simulations show that thinner Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) layers can be used on module level with minor reflection losses while on cell level losses

Plasma-Assisted N2O Oxidation (PANO) in an Industrial Direct Plasma Reactor for TOPCon Production

open access: yesSiliconPV Conference Proceedings
Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) is an attractive tool for TOPCon production, as it enables uniformly in situ doped amorphous silicon (a-Si) and dielectric layer depositions with high throughput. However, a lean process requires in situ

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

Flexible Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 solar cells with over 10% efficiency and methods of enlarging the cell area

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Flexibility and homogeneity are preferred properties for the kesterite solar modules to compete with silicon counterparts. Here, Yang et al. achieve these properties by designing a thin and multi-layered precursor structure and at the same time increase ...

TOPCon Solar Cells With Al-Free Ag and Cu Metallization

open access: yesSiliconPV Conference Proceedings
This work presents an approach to lower the silver consumption of screen printed TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cells by reducing and partially replacing the silver by low cost copper metallization paste. On the solar cells front side an

Thermal model in digital twin of vertical PV system helps to explain unexpected yield gains

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics, 2023
The business case of novel integrated applications of solar energy is often regarded as a straightforward extrapolation of standard solar parks. But when the design of the solar park is remarkably different from typical solar parks, the operating ...
