Solar-neutrino oscillations

Physical Review Letters, 1985
The theory of oscillations of solar neutrinos is developed as it applies to the electron-recoil spectrum in neutrino-electron scattering. The spectral information obtained by such measurements (as opposed to counting total event rates) is crucial for allowing observation of neutrino oscillations for masses down to 500 neV.

Observations of solar oscillations

Geophysical & Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics, 1988
Recent progress in the field of Helioseismology is reviewed. New results from observations of the Global p-Mode spectrum and some of their theoretical implications are considered as well as Atmospheric Eigenmodes and Running Waves in the visible part of the solar atmosphere.

Change of Solar Oscillation Eigenfrequencies with the Solar Cycle

Nature, 1985
Solar p-mode eigenfrequencies depend on the radial stratification of the solar interior and this stratification may be perturbed by the mechanism of the 11-year magnetic activity cycle. Observations of long-term changes in p-mode oscillation frequencies may therefore help to identify the cause of the solar cycle.

Solar neutrinos and solar oscillations

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1994
Abstract For solar neutrino measurements to contribute directly to particle physics it is essential that we know the structure of the Sun. Only then can we be sure both of the conditions under which the neutrinos are produced and of the state of the material through which they must pass before arriving at the detectors on Earth. Solar

Resonant-Solar-Neutrino-Oscillation Experiments.

Physical Review Letters, 1986
The results of a detailed calculation of the effects of resonant neutrino oscillations in the sun on the current and proposed solar neutrino experiments are presented. Analytic results are used for the electron-neutrino survival probability so that a sophisticated model for both the production distribution of the solar neutrino sources and the solar ...

Solar oscillations, stellar oscillations and cosmology

Nature, 1980
Two implications of the recent observations1 of low angular, high radial overtones of the whole Sun are reported here. The first implication is that other main sequence stars are likely to be oscillating in similar modes and that precision spectroscopy as well as photometry from space is capable of detecting these oscillations, thereby extending ...

Solar Waves and Oscillations

1986
Study of the generation and propagation of waves in the solar convection zone and atmosphere began with the realization in the late 1940s that such waves could carry mechanical energy from the turbulent convection zone into the chromosphere and corona.

Solar oscillations and the physics of the solar interior

2008
The variety and precision of the observed frequencies of solar oscillations allow a detailed investigation of the foundations of computations of stellar models. This is of obvious importance to our understanding of the structure of other stars of moderate mass.
