Estimated plasmasphere electron content and O⁺/H⁺ transition height during the February 2022 geomagnetic storm from Irkutsk IS radar data

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics
We study the topside ionosphere above the NmF2 ionization maximum and the transition region between the ionosphere and the plasmasphere. We analyze the interaction between the topside ionosphere and the plasmasphere during a strong geomagnetic storm in ...

Workshop on the evolution of the Martian atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes
Thirty-three papers based on the state of our knowledge prior to the anticipated new results from Mars Observer were presented at the workshop. Because of the nature of the subject, the scope of the papers covered a broad disciplinary range encompassing ...

Nature‐Inspired Sustainable Cooling for Photovoltaics with Enhanced Temperature‐Salinity Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Addressing solar panel overheating, a nature‐inspired cooling system mimicking ocean currents is developed. A moisture‐absorbing solution layer uses sunlight, radiative cooling, and moisture processes to create temperature/salinity gradients, accelerating circulation. The prototype cools panels by up to 18.2 °C under sunlight, sustains cooling, rapidly

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.

Ion‐Selective Microporous Membranes via One‐Step Copolymerization Enable High‐Performance Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step copolymerization strategy is developed to produce low‐cost microporous ion exchange membranes that boost both the efficiency and lifespan of flow batteries. When combined with organic electrolytes in aqueous systems, these membranes enable safe and cheap flow battery energy storage, supporting the widespread integration of renewable

Solar Physics paper

open access: yes
Abstract This study examines the complex relationships among high-energy solar particle events (SEPs), solar flares, and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) at the onset of Solar Cycle 25. We investigate the sources and characteristics of high-energy solar particles and explore the dynamics of solar flares and CMEs within this evolving solar cycle ...

Tailoring Redox Active Sites with Dual‐Interfacial Electric Fields for Concurrent Photocatalytic Biomass Valorization and H2 Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A rationally engineered bifunctional photocatalyst is reported, which achieves simultaneous selective oxidation of biomass‐derived 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5‐diformylfuran (DFF) and efficient H2 evolution. By precisely positioning Au and Co3O4 on Zn3In2S6 nanosheet, dual interfacial electric fields are well constructed to spatially separate ...
