The future of solar physics

Solar Physics, 1985
The future of solar physics is founded on the existing fundamental unsolved problems in stellar physics. Thus, for instance, the physics of stellar interiors has been called into serious question by the very low-measured neutrino flux. The 71Ga neutrino detection experiment is the next step in unravelling this mystery.

Solar oscillations and the physics of the solar interior

2008
The variety and precision of the observed frequencies of solar oscillations allow a detailed investigation of the foundations of computations of stellar models. This is of obvious importance to our understanding of the structure of other stars of moderate mass.

Solar Physics: Overview

2020
Solar physics is one of the liveliest branches of astrophysics at the current time, with many major advances that have been stimulated by observations from a series of space satellites and ground-based telescopes as well as theoretical models and sophisticated computational experiments.

A Discussion on the physics of the solar atmosphere - Physics of the solar atmosphere

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1976
A summary is given on recent results on the physics of the quiet solar atmosphere, and active regions. This includes: solar rotation, velocity fields and waves, magnetic field concentration, the transition region, coronal magnetic field structure, and prominences.

Solar physics with LOFAR [PDF]

open access: possible2014 XXXIth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS), 2014
LOFAR is a novel radio telescope for the frequency range of 10–250 MHz. It consists of antenna fields that are arranged as a dense core near Exloo and remote stations all over the Netherlands, and international stations that span baselines up to 1000 km across Europe.

Physics of the Solar Corona [PDF]

open access: possible, 1964
Abstract : Progress for the year included uncompleted analysis of 1966 eclipse plates for evidence of a difference in the chemical content of coronal condensations from that in the corona in general, continued work toward interpretation of the gradient of the emission-line features in the corona, the discovery of a linear relationship between flare ...
