Solar physics with LOFAR [PDF]
2014 XXXIth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS), 2014 LOFAR is a novel radio telescope for the frequency range of 10–250 MHz. It consists of antenna fields that are arranged as a dense core near Exloo and remote stations all over the Netherlands, and international stations that span baselines up to 1000 km across Europe.

A Discussion on the physics of the solar atmosphere - Solar flares
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1976A summary is given of some recent observational data on solar flares. Particularly we discuss the flare build-up process and the time scales involved. We suggest as a possible magnetic field configuration a multiply kinked or supertwisted flux tube. The role of plasma turbulence and the Fermi mechanism in particle acceleration is discussed.
