The Reversal of a Solar Prominence Rotation about Its Ascending Direction during a Failed Eruption

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
The magnetic orientation of solar coronal mass ejections (CMEs) near the Earth’s magnetosphere is one major parameter that influences the geoeffectiveness of CMEs. The orientation often varies during the eruption and propagation from the Sun to the Earth

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Simultaneous Existence of Oscillations, Counterstreaming Flows, and Mass Injections in Solar Quiescent Prominences

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Solar prominences are very spectacular structures embedded in the tenuous and hot solar corona. Counterstreaming flows, a common feature in solar quiescent prominences, have been discovered for more than 20 yr.

Solar Prominence Diagnostics [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1998
AbstractThis paper reviews the diagnostic techniques currently used to establish estimates of the physical properties of prominences. Most often the fine structure of prominences cannot be resolved. Because of this and the complex structures and the varied forms of prominences, it is difficult to establish definitive values for temperature, density ...

TIME EVOLUTION OF PLASMA PARAMETERS DURING THE RISE OF A SOLAR PROMINENCE INSTABILITY [PDF]

open access: bronze, 2014
We present high-spatial resolution spectropolarimetric observations of a quiescent hedgerow prominence taken in the He i 1083.0 nm triplet. The observation consisted of a time series in sit-and-stare mode of ∼36 minutes duration.

Coronal Mini-jets in an Activated Solar Tornado-like Prominence [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2020
High-resolution observations from the Interface Region Imaging Spectrometer reveal the existence of a particular type of small solar jet, which arose singly or in clusters from a tornado-like prominence suspended in the corona.

Copper‐based Materials for Photo and Electrocatalytic Process: Advancing Renewable Energy and Environmental Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cu‐based catalysts as a cornerstone in advancing sustainable energy technologies are fully reviewed in this manuscript, highlighting their potential in photo‐ and electrocatalysis. It includes metallic copper, copper oxides, copper sulfides, copper halide perovskites, copper‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), and covalent organic frameworks (COFs),

Three-dimensional Velocity Fields of the Solar Filament Eruptions Detected by CHASE

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The eruption of solar filaments, also known as prominences appearing off limb, is a common phenomenon in the solar atmosphere. It ejects massive plasma and high-energy particles into interplanetary space, disturbing the solar-terrestrial environment.

MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Wave Period Variability in a Quiescent Solar Prominence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
On 2022 September 26, we observed a quiescent solar prominence with H α imaging spectroscopy using the Solar Dynamics Doppler Imager (SDDI) on board the Solar Magnetic Activity Research Telescope (SMART).
