Reflecting bottom solar pond

Energy Conversion and Management, 1984
Abstract This communication presents an investigation of a three zone solar pond with a diffusely reflecting bottom. The dynamic performance and its optimization as a large scale solar energy collection and long term storage system have been discussed. Numerical computations, corresponding to the data of solar radiation and ambient air temperature of

UV solar reflecting coronagraph

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1990
A dual‐channel reflecting coronagraph is proposed that would provide observations of Lα corona and chromosphere, upper transition‐region phenomena in CIV, and also helioseismology observations in the continuum around 166 nm. Each channel would use a 104×104‐UV‐sensitive CCD array.

Solar reflectance integrating sphere

Solar Energy, 1960
Abstract An inexpensive integrating sphere for the direct determination of the reflectance of materials irradiated by solar energy transmitted through the atmosphere of the earth is described. Reflectance and transmittance measurements of various metals, cloths, and filters are reported and are compared to spectral and total measurements made with ...

Solar concentrators using total internal reflection

Applied Optics, 1983
A study is presented of solar concentrators based on total internal reflections. The concentrators are placed over photovoltaic cells. Experimental data obtained with different encapsulating materials and dependence on geometrical and physical variables are given.

Reflections on Solar Variability

Solar Physics, 1981
The Sun is a variable star in many respects: there are secular varitions related to the general solar evolution, and — as discovered in recent years — there are many short period variations of which the 5 min and 160 min pulsations are the most important ones.

Solar Reflectance of Glazed Tiles

Advances in Science and Technology, 2014
Exterior wall tiles with high solar reflectance are effective in mitigating heat-island phenomenon. Such walls have also the potential to decrease the warming up of building interiors in mid-summer. For the purpose of increasing the solar reflectance of wall tiles, several kinds of glazes were prepared to measure their visible and infra-red spectral ...

Reflectance analysis under solar illumination

Proceedings of the Workshop on Physics-Based Modeling in Computer Vision, 2002
The paper describes reflectance analysis of real images taken in an outdoor environment. In the past, the fundamental difficulties involved in analyzing outdoor images have prevented the use of traditional techniques for reflectance analysis such as shape from shading and photometric stereo. Those difficulties include: 1. multiple reflection components

Reflection controlling metasurfaces for solar cell applications

Metamaterials XII, 2019
In this study, we propose a new approach for controlling reflection of light by using highly efficient and polarization insensitive all-dielectric metasurfaces. Moreover, we applied our model on the planar silicon solar cell to manage light trapping.
