MODELLING AND CONTROL OF A SOLAR THERMAL POWER PLANT [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005
Abstract Model-based control design is essential in the control of solar power plants. Dynamic linguistic equation (LE) models operate accurately in most operating conditions. Smooth transitions between submodels are based on fuzzy logic and fuzzy set systems are also used for special situations.

Roll‐to‐Roll Processable EC/TC Hybrid Smart Windows Driven by a Bidirectional Dual‐Chromic Polymer Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.

Bacterial Cellulose‐Based Bilayer Passive Cooler for High‐Performance Radiative/Evaporative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sustainable bilayer passive cooler based on bacterial cellulose integrates radiative and evaporative cooling for efficient zero‐energy temperature reduction. The scalable, low‐carbon material shows strong potential for food preservation, low‐temperature storage, and cold‐chain logistics.

Cycling Impact Assessment of Renewable Energy Generation in the Costs of Conventional Generators

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
This paper proposes a set of indicators to quantify the impact of conventional thermal generating unit cycling on its non-fuel variable costs (NFVC) due to generation mix changes in the system.

Discovery of Energy‐Localized Trap States via Opto‐Electrical Spectroscopy in UWBG Perovskite La:SrSnO3 FETs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Combined UV–vis transmittance and wavelength‐dependent photo‐assisted DC I–V analyses reveal defect‐induced optical instability and a high density of deep donor‐like subgap traps in La‐doped SrSnO3. The resulting MOSFET achieves one of the highest on/off ratios reported for ABO3 perovskite devices, demonstrating the promise of stannate perovskites as ...

Comparative System Analysis of Parabolic Trough Power Plants with DSG and Oil using Integrated Thermal Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In addition to the commercial parabolic trough power plants using synthetic oil, the direct steam generation (DSG) is one option for future trough plants.

Performance of a building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPVT) solar collector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The idea of combining photovoltaic and solar thermal collectors (PVT collectors) to provide electrical and heat energy is an area that has, until recently, received only limited attention.

Techno-economic performance assessment of selected power plants in Uganda

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy
Amidst the current global pursuit for access to energy by all as well as energy transition, the actual performance of existing power plants, particularly in developing countries, has often attracted little interest in scientific research.
