Solar water heaters in Taiwan

Renewable Energy, 2006
Solar water heater has been commercialized during the last two decades in Taiwan. The government initiated the incentive programs during 1986–1991 and 2000–2004. This created an economic incentive for the end-users. The total area of solar collectors installed was more than one million square meters.

Solar Water Heaters

1992
Solar energy water heaters can be categorised as either active or passive. An active system is defined as requiring a pump to drive the collecting medium through the system, whereas passive systems require no external power. Distributed systems comprise a solar collector, hot water store and connecting pipework; they may be either active or passive. In

An integral solar water heater

Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1981
At certain levels of development, countries with a suitable climate could consider the use of solar energy for household water-heating, provided the units are simple and cheap. A country where development work on these lines is far advanced is South Africa, and here the Head of the Energy in Buildings Division of that country's National Building ...

Space Station Solar Water-Heater

Proceedings of the 25th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2005
The feasibility of directly converting solar energy for crew water heating on the Space Station Freedom (SSF) and other human-tended missions such as a geosynchronous space station, lunar base, or Mars spacecraft was investigated. Computer codes were developed to model the systems, and a proof-of-concept thermal vacuum test was conducted to evaluate ...

Developments in solar water heaters

Energy Conversion and Management, 1985
Abstract This investigation reports various design concepts of solar water heaters for intermittent use and a new concept of continuous water supply. These systems have features in common: they are without water tubes on the collector surface and without water pumps or a separate storage tank. The work highlights technical difficulties encountered in

Thermosyphon Solar Energy Water Heaters

1986
A review of research, development and system appraisal activities concerned with natural-circulation solar-energy water-heaters is presented. The history of their use and the factors which have influenced their popularity are discussed. An overview of the present commercial situation is provided and the advanced product engineering of recent designs ...
