Developments in solar water heaters
Energy Conversion and Management, 1985Abstract This investigation reports various design concepts of solar water heaters for intermittent use and a new concept of continuous water supply. These systems have features in common: they are without water tubes on the collector surface and without water pumps or a separate storage tank. The work highlights technical difficulties encountered in

Solar energy water heaters can be categorised as either active or passive. An active system is defined as requiring a pump to drive the collecting medium through the system, whereas passive systems require no external power. Distributed systems comprise a solar collector, hot water store and connecting pipework; they may be either active or passive. In

Analysis of an underground solar water heater
Energy Conversion and Management, 1990Abstract This paper presents the performance of an underground solar water heater which consists of a storage tank buried in the ground; the top surface of the ground is blackened and glazed. A provision for time dependent withdrawal of hot water at a constant flow rate through the solar water heater has been made.

An integral solar water heater
Batiment International, Building Research and Practice, 1981At certain levels of development, countries with a suitable climate could consider the use of solar energy for household water-heating, provided the units are simple and cheap. A country where development work on these lines is far advanced is South Africa, and here the Head of the Energy in Buildings Division of that country's National Building ...

Role of nanofluids in solar water heater
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2009Heat transfer enhancement in solar devices is one of the key issues of energy saving and compact designs. Researches in heat transfer have been carried out over the previous several decades, leading to the development of the currently used heat transfer enhancement techniques.

Components of Solar Water Heaters
1986The first recorded use of solar energy was made about 2500 years ago in the Greek where people not only worshipped the God‘Sun’ but built their homes facing south, with porticos (or gaps in the roof) so as to heat the indoors during winter. These were the first solar homes, and solar architecture including many other passive features were taken up much
