Solid Phase Microextraction

2001
Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME) uses a small volume of sorbent dispersed typically on the surface of small fibres, to isolate and concentrate analytes from sample matrix. After contact with sample, analytes are absorbed or adsorbed by the fibre phase (depending on the nature of the coating) until an equilibrium is reached in the system.

Solid-Phase Microextraction Field Sampler

Analytical Chemistry, 2004
To facilitate the use of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) for field sampling, a new field sampler was designed and tested. The sampler was versatile and user-friendly. The SPME fiber can be positioned precisely inside the needle for time-weighted average sampling or exposed completely outside the needle for grab sampling.

Magnetic In-Tube Solid Phase Microextraction

Analytical Chemistry, 2012
We report a new in-tube solid phase microextraction approach named magnetic in-tube solid phase microextraction, magnetic-IT-SPME. Magnetic-IT-SPME has been developed, taking advantage of magnetic microfluidic principles with the aim to improve extraction efficiency of IT-SPME systems. First, a magnetic hybrid material formed by Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles

Solid phase microextraction of aminodinitrotoluenes in tissue

Chemosphere, 2006
Tubifex tubifex metabolizes 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) to 2-amino-4,6-dinitrotoluene (2ADNT) and 4-amino-2,6-dinitrotoluene (4ADNT). Elimination rates of metabolically-generated ADNTs are low compared to ADNTs absorbed directly from water, suggesting that metabolically-generated ADNTs may be bound or sequestered within tissue and therefore less ...

Solid-phase microextraction of N-nitrosamines

Journal of Chromatography A, 2006
A method was developed for the extraction of seven N-nitrosamine compounds from water by solid-phase microextraction (SPME). The method developed requires a total analysis time of only 1.25 h for both extraction and detection (versus 3-20 h for other isolation techniques). Three gas chromatography (GC) detection systems were tested with the SPME method,

In vivo sampling with solid phase microextraction

Journal of Biochemical and Biophysical Methods, 2007
This review discusses the most recent developments and future challenges in the application of solid phase microextraction (SPME) for sampling of live biological samples. The emphasis is placed on applications of fiber SPME for analysis of volatile emissions and drugs in biological fluids.

Solid-phase microextraction of polychlorinated biphenyls

Journal of Chromatography A, 1998
The extraction and analysis of 21 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) ranging from di- to decachlorobiphenyls in ocean, wetland and leachate water samples were achieved using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) with a 100-micron poly(di-methylsiloxane) (PDMS) fiber and gas chromatography-electron-capture detection (GC-ECD). Severe carryover between samples

Optimisation of solid-phase microextraction of volatiles

Journal of Chromatography A, 2002
The results of a systematic study on the precision and repeatability of measurements of the headspace solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) with open-cap vials in combination with capillary gas chromatography in comparison with septum-sealed vials are reported.

Solid-Phase Microextraction and Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction for the Determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Water Samples

Analytical Chemistry, 1998
A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method has been developed for the quantification of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in water samples. Parameters such as sampling time, volume of water, volume of headspace, temperature, addition of salts, and agitation of the sample were studied.

Solid Phase Microextraction for Field Sampling

2004
Solid phase micro extn. sampling methods have been evaluated and adopted to develop a robust method of sampling trace volatiles that can be applied to an array of gas sensors, for use in the field to recognize a condition. [on SciFinder (R)]
