Design and development of solid state cooling module for rawmilk cooling

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dairy Science, 2022
The global increasing demand for refrigeration in field of cooling and storage led to usage of more electricity and release of ozone depleting gases over the world which is a contributing factor of global warming. Thermoelectric cooling is a novel technique for producing cooling and heating effect. Hence, a solid state cooling module for cooling of raw

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Experimental investigation on effect of cooling rate on carbide precipitation during solidification of high manganese steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In order to elucidate the effect of cooling rate on the carbide formation during the solidification process of high manganese steel Mn13, the solidification process is artificially divided into two stages, namely the liquid-solid phase transition stage ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Crack mitigation in additively manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2 high-entropy alloys through engineering phase transformation pathway

open access: yesCommunications Materials
The far-from-equilibrium solidification during additive manufacturing often creates large residual stresses that induce solid-state cracking. Here we present a strategy to suppress solid-state cracking in an additively manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2 high ...

Cooling slope casting to obtain thixotropic feedstock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Thixoforming, and related semi-solid processing routes for metallic alloys, require feedstock with a non-dendritic microstructure in the semi-solid state.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Optical refrigeration with coupled quantum wells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Refrigeration of a solid-state system with light has potential applications for cooling small-scale electronics and photonics. We show theoretically that two coupled semiconductor quantum wells are efficient cooling media for optical refrigeration ...
