AbstractRecent advancements in inorganic solid electrolytes (ISEs), achieving sodium (Na)‐ion conductivities exceeding 10 ‐2 S cm‐1 at room temperature (RT), have generated significant interest in the development of solid‐state sodium batteries (SSSBs). However, the ISEs face challenges such as their limited electrochemical stability windows (ESWs) and

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Solid electrolytes and solid-state batteries [PDF]
Solid-state batteries are regarded as reliable battery systems that overcome some issues in current lithium-ion batteries originated from the organic-solvent electrolytes; however, their power densities have not been high enough to practical use. Intensive studies aiming at the improvement of the rate capability have provided solid electrolytes with ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Electronic paddle-wheels in a solid-state electrolyte
AbstractSolid-state superionic conductors (SSICs) are promising alternatives to liquid electrolytes in batteries and other energy storage technologies. The rational design of SSICs and ultimately their deployment in battery technologies is hindered by the lack of a thorough understanding of their ion conduction mechanisms. In SSICs containing molecular
