Experimental demonstration of a dual-frequency laser free from anti-phase noise [PDF]
A reduction of more than 20 dB of the intensity noise at the anti-phase relaxation oscillation frequency is experimentally demonstrated in a two-polarization dual-frequency solid-state laser without any optical or electronic feedback loop.

Dielectric response effects in attosecond time-resolved streaked photoelectron spectra of metal surfaces [PDF]
The release of conduction-band electrons from a metal surface by a sub-femtosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulse, and their propagation through the solid, provokes a dielectric response in the solid that acts back on the photoelectron wave packet.

Czochralski-grown LaxGdyRzSc4-x-y-z(BO3)4 (R = Yb, Nd) crystals - A review of recent developments
Bifunctional crystals, in which the laser effect and a nonlinear optical (NLO) process, e.g. frequency doubling, can occur simultaneously, play a key role in the development of new laser sources with emission in the near-infrared (NIR) or visible (VIS ...

Prospects for a Nuclear Optical Frequency Standard based on Thorium-229
The 7.6-eV-isomer of Thorium-229 offers the opportunity to perform high resolution laser spectroscopy of a nuclear transition. We give a brief review of the investigations of this isomer.

Ultra-low-noise monolithic mode-locked solid-state laser
Low-noise, high-repetition-rate mode-locked solid-state lasers are attractive for precision measurement and microwave generation, but the best lasers in terms of noise performance still consist of complex, bulky optical setups, which limits their range ...

Femtosecond solid-state laser based on tungsten disulfide saturable absorber.
A new kind of WS2 film was designed, which was composed of few-layer WS2 nanosheets. The nanosheets spread evenly over the SiO2 substrate. By applying the samples into a solid-state laser cavity, excellent mode-locking (ML) performance was obtained.

Prototype laser-diode-pumped solid state laser transmitters [PDF]
Monolithic, diode-pumped Nd:YAG ring lasers can provide diffraction-limited, single-frequency, narrow-linewidth, tunable output which is adequate for use as a local oscillator in a coherent communication system. A laser was built which had a linewidth of
