Detonability of Solid Composite Propellants
ARS Journal, 1961The thin film pla t inum resistance thermometer (heat flux gage) has been successfully applied to measurement of heat fluxes from initiators for solid propellants. Hea t fluxes measured were as high as 1000 Btu/ft-sec from hot, particleladen reaction products of pyrotechnic igniters.

INVESTIGATION OF SOLID PROPELLANT MICROTHRUSTERS
International Journal of Computational Engineering Science, 2003A novel micropropulsion system is described for high-accuracy station keeping, attitude control and speed adjusting of microspacecraft. The proposed solid propellant microthruster is composed of two layers bonded together. One layer is a silicon layer, which contains a microchamber, a micronozzle and a 30-micron slot.

Adiabatic pyrolysis of solid propellants
35th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 1997Several one-step, irreversible, zero-order pyrolysis models (Arrhcnius, KTSS, and Merzhanov Dubovitskii high activation energy pyrolysis), commonly used to study adiabatic burning of energetic materials with arbitrary pressure and initial temperature, are revisited.

Solid-propellant erosive burning
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1987A modeling approach based on experimental verification for the erosive burning of ammonium perchlorate composite propellants is proposed. It retains the idea that erosive burning is due to the penetration of the flow turbulence within the flame height and to the consequent enhancement of the transport coefficients and of the heat flux to the surface ...

Ignition and Combustion of Solid Propellants
1961Abstract : A model for the ignition response of solid propellants is presented, which predicts ignition behavior with respect to pressure and surface heat flux in qualitative agreement with experimental measurements. Surface regression is treated and a steady-state burning model is employed, which assumes equlibrium vaporization at the surface and a ...

Rheologica Acta, 1969
The rheological behaviour of plastic propellent in rocket motor situations is simulated in an experimental technique. In this a differential gas pressure is applied across a plug of propellent in a rigid tube so as to deform it in an approximately telescopic shear fashion. Preliminary results are given and discussed.

Review of solid-propellant ignition studies
16th Joint Propulsion Conference, 1980AN extensive review of the literature on solid-propell ant ignition was made to establish the state-of-the-art. Various ignition theories, experimental measurements, and ignition criteria were critically examined. The review was summarized in easy-to-read tabular form to facilitate comparison between various studies. The effects of important parameters

Acoustic Resonance in Solid Propellant Rockets
Journal of Applied Physics, 1960Attention is drawn to the fact that the solid propellant must, in general, be considered as one of the acoustic media in a rocket motor. The viscoelastic properties of the solid along with those of the burned gases determine the characteristic modes of the system corresponding to the particular boundary conditions imposed on these media by the metal ...

Virtual prototyping of solid propellant rockets
Computing in Science & Engineering, 2000Researchers seek a detailed, whole-system simulation of solid propellant rockets under normal and abnormal operating conditions. A virtual prototyping tool for solid propellant rocket motors based on first principles models of rocket components and their dynamic interactions meets this goal. Given a design specification (geometry, materials, and so on),
