Neuroglial Response to High‐Amplitude, Short‐Duration Pressure Transients in Monoculture
ABSTRACT Blast‐induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI) was reported in 125,000 U.S. service men and women from 2000 to 2018. With no prophylactic treatments having been granted FDA approval, there is a clear need for further understanding of the impact of blasts on the central nervous system.

A numerical investigation using 3D RANS simulations demonstrates significant effects of protuberance geometry—cubic, cylindrical, spherical, and conical—on shock‐induced thrust vectoring in supersonic nozzles. Cubic protuberances provide the maximum jet deflection (˜2°) with negligible thrust reduction.

Internal ballistics of solid rocket motor
The ability to accurately model the operation of a solid rocket motor before undergoing multiple firing tests is essential. The analysis of the internal ballistics of a solid rocket motor results in a depiction of the flow properties inside the chamber, and thus, the overall motor performance.

Ground-based measurements of DM-2 rocket exhaust effluents using fixed-flow samplers and electrets [PDF]
Electret devices were used to collect samples of rocket exhaust products. The samples were analyzed by X-ray spectroscopy. The performance of the electrets was compared with that of Thiokol fixed flow samplers during the static test firing of a solid ...

Characterization of Ultrafast Decomposition Dynamics in Nitrate Esters
ABSTRACT Ignition of energetic materials initiates chemical reactions on atomic length scales within femtoseconds, making these reactions difficult to investigate experimentally. The technique of femtosecond time‐resolved mass spectrometry (FTRMS) can capture molecular rearrangement and bond‐breaking events in isolated molecules with sub‐50 femtosecond

Numerical simulation study of aluminum particle evaporation combustion process based on SPH method
A large variety of metal fuels is usually added to the modern solid rocket propellants to improve the propellant energy and motor specific impulse and to suppress high frequency unstable combustion. Among them, aluminum is the most common additive.
