Analysis of Solid Rocket Motor Materials

2021 IEEE 12th International Conference on Mechanical and Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies (ICMIMT), 2021
The development of solid rocket engine has a long history. However, modern rocket technology and space flight developed until the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, and hence the gradual emergence of solid rocket, liquid rocket and hybrid rocket.

Solid-Propellant Rocket Motors

2012
The solid-propellant rocket motor brings the flight mission capability of high thrust delivery over a short duration. Design issues, such as tailoring the shape of the solid propellant grain (charge) to produce a desired thrust-time profile, are discussed in some detail in this chapter.

Solid rocket motor temperature sensitivity

Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1994
The temperature sensitivity of the propellant and the solid rocket motor are described by several different temperature sensitivity coefficients. This enabled the derivation of three different relationships for the temperature sensitivity coefficient pi(sub K).

Thermoacoustic Instabilities in Solid Rocket Motors

45th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2009
This work describes an unreported instability in so lid rocket motors found out by numerical simulations. A detailed numerical study s hows that this instability is thermoacoustic and results from a coupling between acoustic velocity and aluminum combustion heat release.

Rapid Solid Rocket Motor Design

49th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference, 2013
Internal ballistic design of solid rocket motors (SRMs) is a well-established field. Most grain designs have been well characterized throughout the industry. However, generating and evaluating different grain design options can be quite tedious and time-consuming.

On Combustion Instability in Solid Rocket Motors

2004
An investigation of combustion instability in solid rocket motors was conducted using perturbation techniques, with particular emphasis placed upon understanding the fluid dynamics of the chamber environment. It was shown that although the phenomena generally manifests itself as oscillations of pressure, with the frequencies measured in tests well ...
