Chronotherapeutics for Solid Tumors

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2023
Circadian rhythms are internal manifestations of the 24-h solar day that allow for synchronization of biological and behavioral processes to the external solar day. This precise regulation of physiology and behavior improves adaptive function and survival.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dual ENPP1/ATM depletion blunts DNA damage repair boosting radioimmune efficacy to abrogate triple-negative breast cancer

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
The ATP-hydrolytic ectoenzyme ENPP1 has been implicated in the metastasis and recurrence in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), primarily by contributing to tumor cell survival and treatment resistance.

MicroRNAs in Pancreatic Cancer: Involvement in Carcinogenesis and Potential Use for Diagnosis and Prognosis

open access: yesGastroenterology Research and Practice, 2015
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most fatal malignancies with increasing incidence and high mortality. Possibilities for early diagnosis are limited and there is currently no efficient therapy.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Radon risk mapping in Spain: a population and building-inclusive approach

open access: yesEnvironment International
Radon is a major health risk and a leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. Traditional radon maps in Spain, such as those from the Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear (CSN), rely primarily on geological data but do not account for building ...

Enzymatic Inactivation of Oxysterols in Breast Tumor Cells Constraints Metastasis Formation by Reprogramming the Metastatic Lung Microenvironment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Recent evidence indicates that immune cells contribute to the formation of tumor metastases by regulating the pre-metastatic niche. Whether tumor-derived factors involved in primary tumor formation play a role in metastasis formation is poorly ...

Metastatic tumors to the stomach: clinical and endoscopic features. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
AIM: To evaluate the clinical and endoscopic patterns in a large series of patients with metastatic tumors in the stomach. METHODS: A total of 64 patients with gastric metastases from solid malignant tumors were retrospectively examined between 1990 and ...

Safety, tumor trafficking and immunogenicity of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells specific for TAG-72 in colorectal cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BackgroundT cells engineered to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) have established efficacy in the treatment of B-cell malignancies, but their relevance in solid tumors remains undefined.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...
