Increase of protein content and production of lignocellulolytic enzymes by simultaneous solid-state fermentations of brewery, olive mill and winery wastes [PDF]
Frequently, the agro-industrial wastes are used as animal feed, however many times these wastes have a poor nutritional quality, mainly they have a low protein content and their digestibility is hard.

A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Rhizosphere phage communities drive soil suppressiveness to bacterial wilt disease
Background Bacterial viruses, phages, play a key role in nutrient turnover and lysis of bacteria in terrestrial ecosystems. While phages are abundant in soils, their effects on plant pathogens and rhizosphere bacterial communities are poorly understood ...
