Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Solidification behaviour of ceramic particle reinforced Al-alloy matrices
Novel metal matrix composites have been produced by cast production route. TiC and WC ceramic reinforcing particles have been successfully introduced into Al 6060, Al 319, Al 356, Al–7Si–5Mg, Al–20Cu and Al 2007 alloys. Refined grain structure and various intermetallic phase formation have been observed.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Solidification behaviour of magnesium alloys
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. Magnesium alloys have been extensively used for structural and functional applications due to their low densities. In order to improve the mechanical properties, grain refinement of the microstructures of magnesium alloys has been studied for many years ...

AlMg5 Alloy Behaviour under Different Solidification Conditions
Various solidification conditions of processing alloys have a strong influence on microstructure development, often leading to extended solid-state solubility. In this study, the solubility of Mg in the α-Al solid solution was investigated by varying the solidification conditions of the AlMg5 alloy.
