The Effect of Wire Feeding Speed on Solidification Cracking of CMT Welding for Al-Si Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2021
In this work, a welding solidification crack sensitivity test platform was established to study the effect of wire feeding speed (WFS) on solidification crack sensitivity during cold metal transfer (CMT) welding for AA6061 aluminum alloy.

Quantitative analysis of the effect of inoculation and magnesium content on compact graphite irons — Experimental approach

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
In many industrial domains, compact graphite cast irons are developing rapidly at the expense of lamellar graphite irons. The formation of the microstructure, especially graphite shape, during the solidification stage of these alloys is however still not

Preparation and Growth Characterization of Al2Cu Phase Crystal with the Single Orientation Under Directional Solidification [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2018
Through decreasing the sample size, the regular faceted rectangular Al2Cu phase crystal was prepared under directional solidification. Effects of sample size on the microstructure morphologies and orientations of intermetallic Al2Cu phase crystal growth ...

Advances in Modeling of Solidification Microstructures [PDF]

open access: yesJOM, 2015
In different manufacturing processes, such as casting, welding, and additive manufacturing, metallic materials go through solidification to produce parts with different sizes and shapes. Microstructures that develop during solidification control the property and performance of the manufactured parts, thereby predicting the solidification ...

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Atomistic to continuum modeling of solidification microstructures [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 2016
Abstract We summarize recent advances in modeling of solidification microstructures using computational methods that bridge atomistic to continuum scales. We first discuss progress in atomistic modeling of equilibrium and non-equilibrium solid–liquid interface properties influencing microstructure formation, as well as interface coalescence phenomena

T1 Over Squared Proton Density Ratio to Characterize Multiple Sclerosis Lesions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Differentiating remyelinated from demyelinated lesions in MS remains challenging without histological confirmation. This study introduces the T1‐to‐PD2 ratio (TPR) imaging approach and evaluates its ability to characterize MS lesions alongside other quantitative MRI (qMRI) metrics. Methods Thirty individuals with MS (mean age: 47.5 ±

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
