Solidification structure in a cast γ alloy

Scripta Materialia, 2003
Solidification microstructure of a cast Ti–50Al–6Mo alloy has been examined. The as-cast microstructure consists of β-dendrites, lamellar α2+γ regions, eutectoid β+γ and a thin γ layer at the interface between β dendrite and lamellar structure.

Revealing the solidification structure of nodular iron

Cast Metals, 1995
The effectiveness of several metallographic techniques used to reveal the solidification structure of nodular iron has been evaluated by quantitative metallography.

EFFECTS OF SOLIDIFICATION VARIABLES ON INGOT STRUCTURE

1966
Abstract : Results are summarized of experimental and analytical studies of solutionizing aluminum alloys containing a non-equilibrium second phase. Dendrite arm spacing, solution treatment temperature, and alloy content are the important processing variables determining time required to eliminate second phase.

Convective Effects on Solidification Grain Structure

1992
Blooms or billets made by continuous casting, or shaped castings from foundry, or even pieces treated by surface remelting, more generally all solidification products are agglomerates of crystals called solidification grains. Solidification grain structure includes informations on the space distribution of the grains, their size, shape, orientation etc.

Solidification Structures of Steels and Cast Irons

2004
Abstract The ferrous metals are the most significant class of commercial alloys. This article describes the solidification structures of plain carbon steel, low-alloy steel, high-alloy steel, and cast iron, with illustrations. The formation of nonmetallic inclusions in the liquid before and during solidification is also discussed.

Solidification structures in TiN laser coatings

1997
This paper concentrates on the transmission electron microscopy observations of different dislocation structures in laser nitrided Titanium. Equidistant edge dislocation in the bulk and periodic surface structures exhibit a periodicity within the same order of magnitude.
