Development of a Grasshopper‐Leg‐Inspired Back‐Type Exoskeleton for the Reduction of Muscle Activation During Stoop Activities

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 2, Page 739-760, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Farmers frequently suffer from musculoskeletal disorders, particularly lower back pain (LBP), mainly due to occupational ergonomic factors such as repetitive stooping and lifting. This study proposes using an exoskeleton to reduce LBP risk by providing external torque to the hip joints.

Designer DNA‐Based Machines

open access: yesSmartBot, Volume 2, Issue 1, March 2026.
DNA machinery represents a burgeoning frontier at the intersection of robotics and nanotechnology, evolving from static nanostructure toward dynamic nanorobots. Here, the authors review the comprehensive research pipeline of designer DNA‐based nanomachines, covering the design, analysis, and fabrication. These programmable systems enable transformative

Semi‐Automated and Consistent Fabrication Method of ssDNA‐Functionalized Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotube Biosensor

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 5, 9 March 2026.
Batch‐to‐batch variability in ssDNA‐SWCNT fabrication limits reproducible nanosensor development. We present a semi‐automated platform integrating motorized sonication with standardized SWCNT mass preparation, achieving 3.5‐fold improvement in fabrication consistency.

Bioinspired Fabric Ligament with Tunable Stiffness for Reproducing 3D Lumbar Spine Kinematics

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
A bioinspired fabric ligament (BFL) is proposed based on the hierarchical structure and material properties of native spinal ligaments. The proposed BFLs reproduce the nonlinear force–displacement behavior and tunable stiffness characteristics. Integrating BFLs with 3D printed bioinspired vertebrae and intervertebral disc (IVD), a bioinspired lumbar ...
