Multiscaled Solitary Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Abstract. It is analytically shown how competing nonlinearities yield new multiscaled (multi humped) structures for internal solitary waves in shallow fluids. These solitary waves only exist for large amplitudes beyond the limit of applicability of the KdV equation or its usual extensions.

Making teaching an attractive profession: What are the challenges and opportunities for minority ethnic teachers in England?

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the challenges and opportunities surrounding the recruitment and retention of minority ethnic teachers in England. Drawing on interview data from 33 teachers and school leaders of diverse ethnic backgrounds, it investigates whether racialised barriers identified in earlier research have shifted in the current context of ...

Application of artificial neural network to calculation of solitary wave run-up

open access: yesWater Science and Engineering, 2010
The prediction of solitary wave run-up has important practical significance in coastal and ocean engineering, but the calculation precision is limited in the existing models.

Individualised niches: an integrative conceptual framework across behaviour, ecology, and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Individuals differ. While seemingly trivial, this insight has nevertheless led to paradigm shifts, as three key fields of organismal biology have seen marked changes in key concepts over the past few decades. In animal behaviour, it has become increasingly recognised that behavioural differences among individuals can be stable over time and ...

Solitary-wave propagation and interactions for a sixth-order generalized Boussinesq equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2005
We study the solitary waves and their interaction for a six-order generalized Boussinesq equation (SGBE) both numerically and analytically. A shooting method with appropriate initial conditions, based on the phase plane analysis around the equilibrium ...

Exploring the Profile of Online Gamblers: Key Factors and the Role of Smartphone Addiction in Long‐Term Gambling Engagement

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of online gambling has significantly impacted the gambling industry. However, concerns have arisen regarding how psychosocial factors and excessive smartphone use influence user behavior on online gambling platforms, which has highlighted the need for broader and long‐term studies. More nationally representative studies are

Numerical Simulation of Solitary Wave Induced Flow Motion around a Permeable Submerged Breakwater

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
This paper presents a numerical model for the simulation of solitary wave transformation around a permeable submerged breakwater. The wave-structure interaction is obtained by solving the Volume-Averaged Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes governing ...

Asymmetric‐Coordinated Indium Single Atoms for Highly Selective Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This work develops an indium single‐atom photocatalyst (In‐NTO) featuring unique Inδ⁺–N3O2 coordination sites for highly selective CO2 photoreduction. The specific atomic interface steers the reaction pathway exclusively toward CO (95.9% selectivity) by lowering the overall energy barrier and converting the critical *CO protonation step from ...

Analytical and Multishaped Solitary Wave Solutions for Extended Reduced Ostrovsky Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We present the analytical and multishaped solitary wave solutions for extended reduced Ostrovsky equation (EX-ROE). The exact solitary (traveling) wave solutions are expressed by three types of functions which are hyperbolic function solution ...

Electronic Resonance Network Stabilized Crystal Structure in High‐Nickel Cathodes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Transition metal (TM) ions with empty eg orbitals induce single‐electron delocalization in Ni3+ to form the resonance structure of Ni─OO─TM through the high‐entropy effect. High‐nickel cathode materials with electron resonance structure have the advantages of improving thermodynamic stability, suppressing phase transitions, and mitigating lattice ...
